CASSINI Hackathon Lithuania 2026 is coming to Kaunas
On 27–29 November, Tech-Park Kaunas will host the 12th CASSINI Hackathon Lithuania – part of the international CASSINI Hackathon taking place simultaneously across 10 European locations. Registration is now open.
This year’s theme is “EU Space for Peace and Resilience.” During the three-day hackathon in Kaunas, developers, engineers, AI, data, GIS and cybersecurity specialists, students, startup builders, designers and other tech enthusiasts will form teams and develop solutions to real security and societal resilience challenges.
And although we’re talking about space technologies, you won’t need to build a rocket.
Participants will use European Union space data and technologies, including Copernicus Earth Observation data, Galileo satellite navigation and EGNOS, to tackle very real challenges here on Earth.

Three challenges
1. Cybersecurity for space-based strategic enablers
How can space data and technologies help strengthen the cybersecurity and resilience of critical infrastructure and space-enabled services?
2. Space-enabled crisis response and civil resilience
How can satellite data support faster crisis response, improve situational awareness and strengthen civil resilience?
3. Countering transnational crime and terrorism with space data
How can space data help monitor cross-border threats, identify risks and contribute to a more effective response to organised crime and terrorism?
Three days to turn an idea into a solution
Throughout the hackathon weekend, participants will work in teams, develop their ideas, consult mentors and experts from different fields, take part in practical and international CASSINI sessions, and pitch their solutions to a jury at the end of the weekend.
You don’t need to be a space tech expert – or even a programmer – to join. CASSINI is looking for people with different skills and backgrounds, from software development, engineering, AI and data to cybersecurity, GIS, design and business.
Participants will also have access to the tools, data and guidance needed to work with EU Space technologies.

Want to participate individually? That works too – you’ll have opportunities to meet other participants and form a team.
Prizes
The Lithuanian final has a 6,000 € prize pool:
- 1st place – 3,000 €
- 2nd place – 2,000 €
- 3rd place – 1,000 €
Participants will also have a chance to win additional partner prizes, including a 1,000 € special prize from Teltonika, digital prize packages from Nord Security, as well as prizes and experiences provided by the Lithuanian Museum of Ethnocosmology.
The winning Lithuanian teams will also move on to the European CASSINI Demo Day, where the top teams compete for 5,000 €, 3,000 € and 1,000 € prizes. The three European winners will additionally receive six months of CASSINI mentoring, including 100 hours of expert guidance.
Big Ideas: get ready for the hackathon
Before the hackathon weekend, the CASSINI Big Ideas Campaign will help participants explore the challenges, learn more about EU Space data and technologies, and start developing their ideas.
On 12 November at 15:00, we’ll host an online discussion:
“Satellites, Security & Resilience: Where Can Space Tech Make a Difference in Lithuania?”
Experts from Lithuania’s space, cybersecurity and technology sectors will discuss where space technologies could make a real difference to Lithuania’s security and resilience.
