Human Resource Competences Improvement

Kaunas STP employees are motivated to improve their competencies linked to their professional profile: innovation and project management skills continuously via thematic seminars. Nevertheless, most of useful knowledge are gained while implementing life-long learning programme Erasmus+ projects. Special attention is given to the projects related to promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as special knowledge on innovation support services.

Erasmus+ programme combines all the EU's current schemes for education, training, youth and sport, including the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Grundtvig), Youth in Action and five international co-operation programmes (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and the programme for co-operation with industrialized countries). The integrated programme makes it easier to understand the funding opportunities.

By providing support for learning and learning methods improvement, new learning programmes, education institutions and youth workers professional improvement and as well as promoting greater mobility and cooperation between companies and educational institutions, fosters the quality of education, training and education system.

Kaunas STP gives priority to the Action 2 – cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, which is relevant to create and foster partnership between different types of organizations involved in education, training and youth and enterprises.

At present we are implementing these Erasmus+ projects:

Planet4 - Practical Learning of Artificial Intelligence on the Edge for industry 4.0
No 621639-EPP-1-2020-1-IT-EPPKA2-KA
Duration 2020-11-01 – 2023-10-31
Budget 36.765 EUR

The project aims at filling the gap between scientific research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) and its industrial application as enabling technology for the Industry 4.0 paradigm. AI improves the data acquisition and analysis typical of the 4.0 paradigm, leading to the optimization of the industrial processes through fast, lightweight and well-performing algorithms. The academic research efforts on AI have followed a trend of development of complex and resource-intensive algorithms that require cloud-centric architectures while the industrial architectures for data acquisition are in most cases distributed, fragmented and resource-constrained. Recent research has demonstrated the need of moving toward a decentralized use of AI where data analysis algorithms are executed directly on the machine side (“on the edge”). As this is the future, it becomes evident that a new generation of AI and ML experts, able to adapt these technologies to the industrial needs and to foster their role as the key players of the 4th industrial revolution, is needed.

FFWD EUROPE – Fast Forward Europe
No PGI02042
Duration 2017-01-01 – 2021-12-31
Budget 1.597.145 EUR

Strengthening the European economic fabric requires that their SMEs are competitive. On the path to their sustainable growth, EU SMEs still meet too many obstacles to get full access to venture capital and business opportunities. Some of FFWD EUROPE project partners have their own business acceleration scheme that proves efficient locally, although most of the partners perceive a lack of support from their regional authorities on the design and funding of measures related to facilitate the access to capital for SMEs.

The main outputs will be the elaboration of one Action Plan per region, based on the interregional exchanges that will ensure the appropriate implementation during the phase 2 of the project.
