Tech-Park Kaunas, together with the Ekonomikos ir inovacijų ministerija and its partners, has signed a cooperation agreement to establish the Defence and Security Innovation Centre “Vytis”. The centre will be located in Kaunas and will serve as a strategic hub where business, academia, and government institutions can collaborate on their shared interests. It will focus on the development, testing, and certification of defence, security, and dual-use technologies and products.
"For startups, technology developers, and companies seeking or developing technological solutions, it is crucial to have infrastructure that enables them to harness their potential and expertise fully. We are becoming a central hub for defence and dual-use technology innovation in the heart of Lithuania – ensuring accessibility not only across the country but also for our partners in the Baltic Sea region. It is precisely this kind of infrastructure that will enable the development of innovations that meet the defence needs of both the nation and NATO,” says Paulius Nezabitauskas, Director of Tech-Park Kaunas.
The “Vytis” consortium, led and coordinated by Tech-Park Kaunas, includes Inovacijų agentūra, Lithuanian Inland Waterways Authority, Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, and the Lithuanian Energy Institute, in collaboration with other stakeholders from Lithuania’s defence and security innovation ecosystem. These organisations will combine their experience and resources to activate and expand modern infrastructure dedicated to this type of innovation.
