The amount of information in the world is growing exponentially, and data storage technologies are evolving along with it. While the first hard drive could hold just 5 MB of information - roughly one poor-quality photo - today we can store almost 26,000 times more data on our phones. Mantas Simutis, the co-founder of Genomika, a biotech startup based in Kaunas Science and Technology Park, says that while data storage technologies are improving, the principle of storing data has not changed. That's why he and his team have started to develop a much more promising way of storing information in nature's long-established repository - DNA.
