Planet4– Practical Learning of Artificial Intelligence on the Edge for industry 4.0 |

Academic research in IoT has evolved towards the development of complex and resource-intensive algorithms that require a cloud-centric architecture. In contrast, the architecture used in industry to collect data is in many cases distributed, fragmented and resource constrained. Recent research has shown the need to move towards a decentralised use of IoT, where data analysis algorithms are executed directly from the hardware side ("near the user"). As this is the future, it is clear that a new generation of IoT and MM experts is needed who are able to adapt these technologies to the needs of the industry and reinforce their role as key players in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The project aims to bridge the gap between research on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and their application in industry as a technology to enable the Industry 4.0 paradigm.
To achieve the project's aim, the following objectives are set:
design and implement a training course;
Evaluate and formalise a new approach to describe the needs and challenges of digitisation in industry;
formalise the soft skills framework and related training materials for the 4.0 innovation and change management training workshops;
Design and develop a portal for collecting and sharing best practices in the application of AI and Big Intelligence.
