Tech-Park Kaunas, as part of the international network of European clusters "Green Tech 2.0", encourages EU clusters to cooperate across regions and sectors. This week, Jurgita Šarkienė, Green Tech 2.0 project representative in Lithuania, and Neringa Žebrauskienė, project expert at Tech-Park Kaunas, hosted ClusterXchange visits in Kaunas Innovation ecosystem. The guests were visited by the teams of Radium Energy from Poland and Kymi-Solar from Finland, both startups developing sustainable energy solutions. These ClusterXchange participants were interested in B2B contacts and cooperation opportunities.
"Lithuania is promoting and investing in green technologies in order to achieve its sustainability goals and reduce its environmental impact. We are glad that this experience was a great opportunity for startups to get acquainted with the green technology sector and the community of developers of sustainable energy solutions in Lithuania," said J. Šarkienė, a representative of "Green Tech 2.0".
The guests visited Tech-Park Kaunas partners' laboratories, production valleys and team offices. One of their partners, the Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), a centre of excellence for energy-related research, experimental development and innovation (R&D&I), invited them to its laboratories. Experts from the Institute presented the latest research on the application of green energy to urban applications.
Elinta Robotics, a company located in Kaunas FEZ, invited visitors to get acquainted with the industry's needs for sustainable products and services. The company’s startup Elinta Charge is living on this mission to make electronics smart. The representatives emphasised, that durability is the key principle guiding the company in developing future-proofed EV charging solutions.
"It is very important that the teams that host the startups have a good understanding of and overcome the challenges in today's technology market. Lithuanians are willing to share their experience and look for potential partnership points. It is not only about engineering solutions and software development, but also about getting acquainted with the pulse of market news," says N. Žebrauskienė, project expert at Tech-Park Kaunas.
The visit was a great chance for the participants to discuss the scaling within Europe. Kongsberg NanoAvionics welcomed the founders in their labs and analyzed the hardware challenges and adaptability to space tech. Kaunas regional energy agency and AB “Kauno energija”, a district heating company highlighted the market demands which come with the interest in sustainable energy.
Innovation community members Energy Advice were also a part of this journey. The team develops a tech solution for making the companies more energy efficient. Later we continued the tour in the software powerhouse Telesoftas premises and found out how to apply the newest trends and interactive solutions to make the products and services more user-friendly. The founder of Telesoftas Algirdas Stonys shared an in-depth story about the business's growth and expansion.
