31st of January marked the end of the first stage of the selection process for the program of Lithuanian Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of CERN Technologies. Phase one exceeded the expectations with as many as 20 applications being received. After the second phase, the winners will receive financial support of up to 40.000 euros, premises in Kaunas STP or Sunrise Valley STP, preferential rate licensing of CERN intellectual property, CERN and LIC experts’ consultations, etc.
The majority of applications received include medical and life sciences technologies. Innovative ideas are proposed to facilitate the daily lives of people with physical disabilities, injured people, and medical staff. There are also a number of applications seeking solutions in emerging technologies, safety, Industry 4.0, and environmental areas.
In the preparation for phase two, the experts from CERN and Lithuanian Innovation Centre will select 5 best proposals. The authors will be asked to submit a detailed and comprehensive business plan for the idea. In the second phase, up to 3 best proposals, most in line with CERN competencies will be selected by the commission.
